Warning: Read and understand the manual before you install

Safety-criticalManual p. 2

It is extremely important that you read carefully and understand the installation manual in its entirety before using the Nordicco Northern Light® HVLS fan. Incorrect use may cause severe physical injury as well as damage to inventory. Before installation, make sure you understand and comply with all local regulations and restrictions related to the fan's installation.

The professional installer is responsible for the activation, calibration and commissioning of the UV-C system. Only a professional UV-C installer may activate the UV-C system in the fan, and must ensure that people are not exposed to excessive UV-C irradiation levels.

The product is for indoor use only and must not be operated in explosive atmospheres or other hazardous environments.

Warning: UV-C light – never look into it

If a light source breaks

The light sources contain mercury. It is very unlikely that a broken light source will affect your health. If one breaks:

  • Switch the fan off.
  • Ventilate the room for at least 30 minutes.
  • Remove the broken parts wearing gloves, put them in a closed plastic bag and take it to your local recycling station.
  • Do not use a vacuum cleaner.

Intended use – and what is not allowed

The product is a permanently installed HVLS fan with an integrated UV-C upper-light system, for air circulation and reduction of airborne pathogens indoors. The radiation is directed upwards towards the ceiling and must not come into direct contact with persons. Use it in dry indoor environments only.

Reasonably foreseeable misuse, not permitted:

  • Presence of persons in the area above the fan where direct exposure to UV-C radiation may occur
  • Use in outdoor or humid environments
  • Installation or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions
  • Modification of the product or bypassing/deactivation of safety functions
  • Use where UV-C radiation is no longer confined to the upper-light zone

Three parts – and who may do them

  • Part 1 – installation of the HVLS fan. An installer with a technically relevant qualification, such as an electrical installer.
  • Part 2 – activation, measurement and commissioning of the UV-C system. Only professional installation specialists trained in measurement of UV-C light systems.
  • Part 3 – instruction, guidance and information. The professional installer instructs the administrator/operator in the correct use of the system and informs them of the results and measures from the measurement and commissioning.
